2010 Fund Members' Conference Recap
The 2010 TASB Risk Management Fund Members' Conference has come to an end. On April 25-27, over 550 participants representing nearly 300 members gathered in downtown Austin at the Hyatt Regency Hotel for a full schedule of educational and networking opportunities, including 24 breakout sessions, 19 roundtables, the annual Membership Luncheon and Innovation Awards ceremony, coverage credit drawings, and more! The conference was free of charge for all members who registered on or before April 19.
Thank you to all Fund members and TASB staff who attended this year. Mark your calendars for next year's conference, which will be held another year at the Hyatt Regency Austin from April 17-19. This page will be updated later this year with more information.
Conference Highlights

Early-Bird Dinner
Members who arrived on Sunday kicked off the Conference at our Early-Bird Dinner at Zax Restaurant and Bar. Over 300 attended and enjoyed a complimentary buffet-style Italian dinner and drinks.
Keynote Speaker: Jim "The Rookie" Morris
Monday's program started with Opening Remarks from Fund Chair Kevin Carbo and an inspirational speech from our keynote speaker Jim "The Rookie" Morris. Audience members laughed and lamented with Morris as he recounted his real-life Cinderella story and the lessons he learned about second chances and following your dreams.
Annual Membership Luncheon and Innovation Awards Ceremony
Members enjoyed a break from a busy day of training to enjoy a three-course meal with their fellow members. The luncheon concluded with the presentation of the 2010 Innovation Awards by Fund Chair Kevin Carbo and Fund Board Member Ted Beard. Winners received a check for $1000 and a plaque to commemorate the occasion.
Welcome Reception
The first day of breakout sessions ended with a 2-hour Welcome Reception for all attending members. Passed hors d'oeuvres and complimentary drinks gave members a chance to unwind before heading off to explore downtown Austin.
Risk Management Roundtables
The educational portion of the conference culminated with a series 19 roundtables based on session presentations and member feedback. Members made the rounds and discussed critical subjects in the field of risk management.
Coverage Credit Drawings
The grand finale of the Conference, the annual coverage credit drawings awarded three members with credit toward the renewal of their coverage for the following Fund fiscal year.
